What will happen if we remove the capacitor from the running ceiling fan?

If the capacitor is removed from a running ceiling fan, the starting torque provided by the auxiliary winding will be lost, and the motor will eventually stop rotating. The reason is that the motor relies on the phase difference created by the capacitor to produce the necessary torque to keep it running.

When the motor is running, the main winding and the auxiliary winding create a rotating magnetic field that interacts with the stator's magnetic field to produce torque. However, when the capacitor is removed, the current flowing through the winding inductors will produce a pulsating magnetic field that oscillates between 0 and 180 degrees, rather than a rotating magnetic field.

This pulsating magnetic field will not be able to produce the required torque for the motor to continue running, and the motor will eventually stop. Moreover, the motor will draw more current from the power supply as it tries to overcome the increased resistance and losses in the winding.

Therefore, removing the capacitor from a running ceiling fan will result in the motor stopping due to the lack of starting torque and the absence of a rotating magnetic field, which is essential for the motor's operation.
